Helmut Newton Books

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Helmut Newton, prolific photographer of nude women around the world, had a long history of excellent photos up until his accidental death in 2004. Many of those pictures can still be found in books dedicated to his work.

The most notable compilation of Newton’s work came in the form of SUMO, an enormously expensive book of limited print that frequently goes for more than $2,000, and can be found on Barnes & Noble.com for as much as $10,000.

His other books are of the more garden-variety price, usually ranging between $30 and $50. They include World Without Men, Sleepless Nights, White Women, Us and Them and Helmet Newton: Big Nudes. As most of the titles suggest these books concentrate almost exclusively on nude women, though depicted in a generally tasteful fashion. For those looking to get a taste of SUMO’s contents, these other books – among others in the Helmet Newton books repertoire – contain many of SUMO’s pictures.
