Helmut Newton Foundation

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Helmet Newton, a prolific photographer of nude women up until his death in 2004, founded the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin, Germany in 2003.

The Helmut Newton Foundation’s goal is to preserve and promote the work of Helmut and his wife June, who formed the photographic basis for much of Helmut’s work over the years.

Composed primarily of exhibitions of Newton’s own work, the Foundation also showcases work done by other photographers that corresponds thematically with Newton’s photographs on selected issues. Previous exhibitions include Wanted, Men, War & Peace, Yellow Press and A Gun For Hire, and include such internationally renowned photographers as David Lachapelle, Larry Clark and Ralph Gibson.

The Helmut Newton Foundation is also a showpiece for the work of Newton’s wife, who went under the pseudonym Alice Springs for much of her career, and who photographed Newton on his deathbed.
